In 1997, SYA Group developed two emergency planning board games for use by non-profit organizations. The Disaster Planner game uses a handbook that is completed as players take turns spinning a planning wheel to advance around the game board. At the end of the game, the organization has written well-defined planning objectives and specific response procedures.
The Disaster Master game uses trivia questions, chaos cards, and reward cards to walk players through an actual event scenario. The participants complete exercises in a handbook to test procedures developed in the Disaster Planner game.
The board game is a unique way to write and practice emergency response procedures. SYA Group can develop similar board games that are specifically tailored to organizations, agencies, and family response.
